Learning English in Malta means far more than just English language training - you will experience one of the most beautiful islands in the world at the crossroads of the Mediterranean, where English is one of the two official languages. Malta has a long history of English teaching and boasts a large and lively professional English teaching community trained to international standards.
Malta's mild winters and guaranteed summer sunshine make the island a popular destination for language learners and holidaymakers alike. Malta's beaches, miles of coastline and clear blue seas are an obvious attraction for sun-lovers and water sports enthusiasts. But Malta also offers a particularly rich and varied historical and cultural heritage encompassing 6,000 years of civilization. Here you can find prehistoric temples dating back to times before the building of the pyramids in Egypt and the city of Valletta, a UNESCO World Heritage site, bears witness to the architectural genius of the Knights of St John in the 16th century.
Malta might be a small island but the same cannot be said of its 6,000 years of history. The Phoenicians, Carthaginians, Romans, Arabs, Normans, the Order of St John, Napoleon and the British Empire all left their mark on the islands before Malta finally gained its independence in 1964 and became a Republic in 1974.
The Maltese islands are steeped in history and you only have to visit the spectacular Baroque churches of the Maltese villages or wander round the historical cities of Valletta and Mdina to experience this rich cultural and historical heritage.
On a small island such as Malta nowhere is very far from the beach and especially in the summer, when temperatures soar, the clear blue of the Mediterranean is inviting to say the least. There are sandy as well as rocky beaches in Malta and many of them offer water sports facilities but for the less adventurous all that's needed is a towel and suntan lotion.
For those of you who prefer to spend their free time exploring the islands, again, nowhere is very far. You may choose to spend the afternoon visiting a prehistoric temple or museum, wandering around the ancient city of Mdina, visiting a fishing village or sitting at a pavement café table watching the world go by.
